Okay so as the fear of pandemic named corona which created havoc in our world and our daily life, more and more people are being seen in the gyms. Some old members who used to workout before too and some new members due to health reasons or to reduce the weight gained during the dreadful period of inactivity LOCKDOWN which happened in every part of the world.
The new joiners to the gym will see people screaming lifting heavy weights big muscular guys hot beautiful gorgeous women with model-like figures. All this can be a whole lot of different experiences for some new people in the gym.
Whether you joined the gym to gain weight and muscle or tone up or lose weight. There are some basic fitness code in gyms which will help you navigate easily and have a good time at the gym.
Every gym has some basic set of rules which one must follow all the time to simply avoid picking up fights, arguments in the gym, or worst being kicked out of the gym and even losing your membership.
These basic set of rules are called gym etiquette. Gym etiquette is basically how you navigate and conduct yourself in the gym environment. These are easy but important points to follow in the gym to keep yourself and the people around you in the gym safe and happy.
Gym Etiquette #1 – Pay your dues on time
You should stay up to date on your gym fees. This is the most important rule of any gym failing to comply with this rule can result in you being physically thrown out of the gym
Gym Etiquette #2 – Wipe your sweat
Obviously, when you go to the gym the idea is to work hard and sweat as much as you can. And consequences to this can be a sweaty trail on benches mats etc you have used. Whether you sweat a lot or not, it is the courteous duty of every gym-goer to wipe down each and every piece of equipment you have used after you are finished using it.
Especially during the scare of such a pandemic people don’t want to be in contact with anyone’s sweat or any other body fluids.
Gym Etiquette #3 – Don’t hog the equipment
In Gyms certain equipment is like gold for eg squat racks and bench press racks. As using these machines take time and no one likes to wait in the gym. So if you are using the squat rack then finish as fast as you can and leave it empty for the next person to use. Don’t make people wait till you finish taking the selfie or talking to your friend.
Don’t sit on any bench or machine and use Instagram on it after every set. Similarly, if you see a queue for a particular machine best will be to alternate some other exercise or machine instead of it rather than standing in the waiting period.
Gym Etiquette #4 – The gym is your second home don’t make it your real home
For some people, a gym is a place of peace and salvation and it feels like a second home for them. But you should also remember you are sharing this second home with a lot of other people like you a few good habits like not leaving your belonging on benches you not using or simple things like re-racking your weights after you are done will help simplify things for everyone around.
Leaving your weight is the most disrespectful and infuriating thing one can do in a gym. Whether it’s dumbells, plates, kettlebells, or any other gym equipment it’s best to put everything back the way it is supposed to be.
If you use something, you put it back where it belongs. We all learned this in kindergarten.
Gym Etiquette #5 – Push yourself without annoying others
The gym is a good place to feel nice and relax and have some conversation with some friends. It is also a good place to hook up but before and the workout though. It is never a good idea to interrupt someone’s workout especially if you are interested in something more than just friendship.
Interact but never intercept anyone. If there is a connection, talk after. If not, they are simply not interested. Also, the smoothie bar or the lounge area in the gym is better than weight benches to start a conversation.
Also, don’t be the creepy guy or gal that stares down at every hottie in the gym. Admire, and compliment if necessary, then look away.
Gym Etiquette #6 – Wear appropriate gym attire
It is a fitness club, not a strip club. So it’s best to come dressed in a decent manner and covering up all inappropriate areas. For the ladies side boob and see-through are too much a good decent sports bra with a short is fine. For men, your package is not meant to be scrunched up in spandex still if u feel that comfortable pls wear shorts over it.
Gym etiquette #7 – No locker room nudity
It’s best to keep yourself covered up in locker room areas. Not everyone likes to see your private parts. Keep it covered and keep it appropriate.
Gym Etiquette #8 – No eating or lounging
If your gym does not have a place to sit or hang out there is a strong reason for that. They just don’t want you to hang there forever. If you have to eat or wait for your friend to finish the workout it’s best to sit in your car and not on the unused machine or benches.
The above mentioned are the basic fundamental rules of every gym one must follow. Overall don’t be an ass. Be kind, humble, and respectful to everyone in the gym. Motivate others and make friends but never annoy or interrupt others.
