There are team sports and individual sports. In team sports you have a team like football team , cricket team where one person is always there to cover the other and if one is weak you have strong players also but in individual sports you just have an individual a solo person working towards their greatness, aims and goals sports such as badminton, boxing , skiing etc.
Under the category of individual sports falls one more sport. It’s the sport of freaks, big bulky muscular people ….. Yes you guessed it right it’s the sport of bodybuilding. Not a mainstream sport is still looked down upon like a cult but it’s still a sport many of us love.
When you talk about bodybuilding we talking about big muscular guys and gals not your regular guy on the street. We talking about a head turner, a giant, a freak, not your normal average person. There are two kinds of people in a gym you have regular gym goers and you have bodybuilder. The difference between the two is a regular guy at the gym will be going to the gym everyday do a little bit of cardio, do a lot of socializing, lift not more than 3-5 pound dumbbell and looks the same even after going for a year to the gym. On the other side we have a hulk ( could be a she hulk too ) like person who hardly socialize in gym, keeps pushing hard as he/she can just comes to the gym does the workout and is out hardly ever is bothered by who’s who in the gym.
Bodybuilding is a sport which requires one to give a lot of dedication as it’s an individual sport. Dietitians can give you a diet but can’t spoon feed you, If you want to achieve your goals you have to stick to your diet. Similarly a workout professional can give you a workout schedule but its up to you how much you adhere to it and how much you push yourself in the gym. A spotter can stand beside you but until unless you don’t push yourself beyond your body can push a spotter is of no use. So it all comes down to being a very strict regime full dedication requiring sport. Just coz you don’t want to compete in bodybuilding competitions doesn’t mean you should not follow a diet or not push yourself hard in the gym.
Until unless you don’t set great standards, you don’t aim high you wont achieve a great body. It’s not like one day you pick up heavy weights and boom the next day you are a fitness model. It’s an ongoing process everyday you need to pick up heavy weights, everyday you need to watch what you eat. At times for months you have to eat the same food day in and day out, follow the same workout schedule, give up parties, give up socializing, give up junk food, give up sweets, forget shopping as all your money will be spent on gym, food, supplements. You will have to train like every other athlete or a sports person does but you will have to do it all alone.
Bodybuilding is a sport which will make you cry, will make you broke, will make you have such sore body that you don’t want to do anything except lie in the bed all day,it will make you emotional freak, you will snap way too soon, loose anger too soon, at times you will also feel like giving up, you will have shit days. And you will have to handle and bear all of this alone as it’s an individual sport. Nobody will hold your mother fucking hand and walk you till the treadmill or since you not feeling good on that leg day nobody will give a fuck about it, nobody else will come and do your workout for you.
Just like that person you love and want to win over, you go that extra mile for him/her same way you will have to be dedicated to the gym and diets if you want results and love your body. Just like you will go see that person after you 9-5 job same way you will have to go to the gym after that 9-5 job. The way you care for that person you love , same way you will have to care for your body, you will have to care about your diet, you will have to care about your supplementation, you will have to watch over your cheat meals. Just like you don’t want to cheat on your love , here too you can’t cheat on your diet. You can’t put the tasteless salad aside and have cheese burgers and look ripped and bulked.
Bodybuilding is just like loving someone you have to be equally patient, work slowly and slowly, just like you build trust in a person you have to build your strength day by day and slowly. Just like if you rush into love it’s always a mess same way if you rush into bodybuilding too soon you might injure yourself. It’s just like a heartbreak or break up. You were not cautious you dint watch where you were going and now see where you have landed on the bed resting with a pulled muscle just the way you would be heartbroken when you rush into things and mess it all up and in the end sad lonely heartbreak.
So my lovely hulks and she hulks well you have to get this thing in your head that bodybuilding is not just for everyone. Everyone can be a regular gym goer but not every gym goer can be a bodybuilder. Gym goer and a bodybuilder are two different personalities with a different level of dedication, different goals, different mindset, different emotions.
Bodybuilding requires a hell lot of patience, it requires a lot of dedication, it requires you to get back up every time you fail. It’s not a sport for the weak or faint hearted, not for someone who gives up too easily, not for someone who can’t stick to deadlines, someone who is not goal driven , it’s not a sport for cry baby. It is a sport of strong men and women, it’s a sport of warriors and soldiers, it’s a sport of gladiators, the greek gods.
