When you talk about fitness to someone what is the first thing that comes to your mind ?? If your answer is a muscular guy with veins popping lifting heavy weights in gym and drinking protein shakes. Then sorry to say my friend but your idea of fitness is totally wrong.
Fitness is a very vast and big world. Fitness comprises a lot of physical activities apart from gymming and weight lifting. Isnt a yogi who can perform some very advance yoga poses, or a black belt martial artist, a runner a swimmer etc all these people not fit ??
Fitness to many people nowadays is all about having a 6 pack and bigger biceps that’s BTW called bodybuilding not fitness. Bodybuilding is a part of fitness, not fitness as a whole…
Any physical activity which helps you stay healthy, active and better than what you were yesterday is fitness.. Even if you are obese or overweight and you go to the gym to lose weight you are better than people who just complain and don’t do anything… or you are going to put on some weight and muscle and look like beast. Then you should be proud of yourself…..
If you look for the meaning of fitness it’s very vast. Fitness could be anything to stay healthy be it swimming, cycling, jogging, yoga, aerobics, lifting weights etc
.
Each and everyone has a different goal while they follow any fitness regime. Some want to lose weight, some want to gain weight, some want to increase their stamina, some want to increase their flexibility. Whereas for some its just a part of their everyday routine.
Fitness is just not about doing just physical activity. If you do some physical activity you need to eat a diet accordingly so that you can fuel your body for the next session. So fitness is not just about burning the calories or building muscle by modes of physical activity but it’s also about eating well. A fit body is 50% how he/she trains and 50% what the person eats. You can’t achieve your fitness goals without having the right kind of diet.just like you can’t drive a car on an empty fuel tank.
Being fit has a lot of advantages.Which are as follows
- Reduces Cholesterol
- Improves Sleep Quality
- Improves Self Esteem
- Reduces Blood Pressure
- Decreases Back Pain
- Reduces Risk of Injury
- Prevents Certain Cancers
- Increases Functional Strength
